New Portfolio Stuff!

So I added a few things that I've been working on to my portfolio. Go check them out.

Morningwood Video-ness

So check this video out. It's by Morningwood, an NYC band that mixes rock, punk, and a little bit of disco (and yes, they're better than the Scissor Sisters). Nothing revolutionary, but they're a lot of fun, and the video makes me think of Dusty from Porktornado's list of worst record album covers. Enjoy!

I like this whole winning thing!

So randomly enough, I won two contests this week (and I never win things!)

1. I won a drawing from NPR for two tickets to see Jamie Cullum at the Florida State Theatre! Caleb and I were planning on going anyways, and these tickets are some darn good seats!

2. I won a Graphic Design class contest to design the new identity for the Carrera Gallery, Flagler's art gallery. They show about 2 exhibitions a month, and now my poster will be the template for each show, along with my design for the postcards that they send out to announce exhibits, and my logo. I'm really excited, not only becuase this is great for my portfolio, but also cuz I got a sweeet gift card to our local art store. I am so buying new sketchbooks.

Ooh la la

I am so tired right now. I think I got too much sleep last night (it doesn't seem possible). I started pouring my molds today for my sculpture clasas and I almost fell asleep on top of my bucket of plaster. Not good.

In other news, I started my garden today. Philip and Josh helped me dig up the land, and I piled up some nasty roots and leaves for a compost pile. This weekend I'm going to try and buy some seeds and start planting. I'm thinking I'll do the basic vegetables (potatos, lettuce, tomatos, peas, carrots, peppers) and some herbs (dill weed, lavender, rosemary, peppermint, and parsley), plus a few flowers thrown in for good measure. Since it's just me, i don't need too many of each kind, so that gives me more freedom to pick and choose a bunch of different types.

I really want a smoothie.

A Good Day All Around

Today I won a hundred dollars. I'm not even kidding. How cool is that? A t-shirt design I did for the St. Augustine 5K Run won, and so in addition to a hundred big ones, my design will be on the front of all the runner's shirts. I'm pretty darn excited, to be honest. It makes me feel more confident in my design skills. Plus, well, it's a hundred bucks! Yay!

Philip flew in today from Detroit, so I picked him up at the airport and we went to Nanny's house, where we made dinner for Caleb's family. I made Chicken Parmesan with sauteed buttered squash and garlic bread. And it turned out wonderfully.

Rolling through...

I almost went to see the Drive By Truckers play in Gainesville today. But then I didn't (the people I was going to meet couldn't make it). I am, however, planning on buying the new Ben Harper album the day it comes out, and I'm really excited about it. Also, if you haven't heard Matisyahu, the Hasidic Reggae-Hip Hop artist, then by all means, click the name and check him out. It's pretty frickin' awesome.

Caleb was here this past weekend: we grilled and had a picnic to celebrate our Three Year Anniversary (aw); attended the St. Augustine Sack (a reenactment of the pirate raid on St. Aug); saw 16 Blocks (which was quite good), and Barnes and Nobeled it up.

My brother Phil is flying in on Monday, and Spring Break (or "Spring Blink" as we like to call it here at Flagler) is just over a week away. March is halfway through and I can't way I'm the least bit sad.
